Auxiliary Board Member

You will be a welcome addition to the team if you are:

  • Passionate about education, equity, and civic engagement
  • A young professional in your 20s or 30s
  • Available in person to host and attend events in Illinois and/or Texas
  • Have a personal and professional network in Illinois and/or Texas
  • Willing to contribute in creative ways utilizing your expertise, skills, and network
  • Maintain an active presence on at least one social media platform

 

About Us:

Educate. Radiate. Elevate. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating in IL and TX, formed during the pandemic to address the growing achievement gap due to school closures. Our purpose is to strengthen the educational achievement of under-resourced students by providing them with high-quality instruction from experienced tutors who will assist them with academics, enrichment, and test prep as well as essential learning and life skills. Our mission is to minimize the disproportionate learning losses for low-income students to provide economic, social, and emotional stability for the youth served, their families, and their communities.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Serve a minimum two-year term as a member of the Auxiliary Board
  • Make a personal donation of $250 each fiscal year to support E.R.E.
  • Regularly attend relevant in-person and virtual events on behalf of E.R.E.
  • Work with fellow members to develop and implement fundraising and networking initiatives tailored to young professionals and broader audiences
  • Promote E.R.E. within personal and professional circles, aiming to recruit volunteers, partners, and donors
  • Utilize your professional skills and expertise to assist with goal-oriented tasks
  • Participate in Auxiliary Board meetings as scheduled (at least once per quarter)

 

Commitments:

(Approximately 5-10 hours per month)

  • Per year and on behalf of E.R.E., attend at least 3 in-person events and 5 virtual events thrown by potential or current partner organizations (i.e. Chambers of Commerce, regional foundations, other nonprofits, etc.)
  • Help execute at least one annual fundraising/networking event per year to generate awareness and revenue for E.R.E.
  • After the first year, develop at least one new fundraising/networking event per year to enhance outreach and support
  • Volunteer for at least one project per year to support E.R.E.'s programs and operations; this may include projects related to marketing, recruitment, technology, accounting, improvement/creation of projects/programs, and the like
  • Engage with (like and comment) a minimum of one E.R.E. social media post per week
  • Publish at least one post per month on personal and/or professional social media platforms to promote E.R.E. and recruit support
  • Annually, recruit at least one Auxiliary Board member, Committee member, or professional volunteer
