Job Summary:

 

The Office of Scholarships is seeking an Assistant Director of Scholarships. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.

 

As a member of the Scholarship Office leadership team, this position coordinates the awarding of scholarship office foundation funds and renewable admission-based scholarships, with oversight from the director of Scholarships. This position works closely with college and department Scholarship administrators and campus partners with administering scholarships in OSU’s scholarship management system, OSU ScholarDollars/ ScholarshipUniverse. Works closely with the Director of Scholarships to support the university strategic enrollment goals. Oversees managing and troubleshooting of ScholarDollars and other systems related to scholarships. This position will also help support customer service and will do some traveling for outreach and recruitment. The Assistant Director contributes to the diversity, equity and inclusion efforts that are outlined in OSU’s Diversity Action Plan which have the goal to expand access to higher education, solve problems through research and innovation, and enhance prosperity for every community across the state, and by extension the nation and world.

Key Responsibilities

 

35% Scholarship Management Systems and other OSU Data Systems

 

• Coordinate and work in conjunction with Enrollment Management Information Technology and the Financial Aid IT staff and Scholarship Director to manage data related to centrally managed scholarships in Slate, Banner, and the scholarship management system as well as various other OSU data systems.

• Help develop reports to track the impact of scholarship awards on the budget and anticipated enrollment.

 

35% Campus Partner/Community Collaboration, Coordination of University Scholars Program (USP )

 

• Work collaboratively with campus partners to award programmatic, college and departmental scholarships to leverage resources to meet enrollment goals.

• Develop and implement strategies and programming to build a community for OSU scholarship recipients through the University Scholars Program.

• Coordinate with Campus partners to facilitate access to high-impact practices for students participating in the USP .

• Provide training and support for campus scholarship administrators working within the scholarship management system (OSU ScholarDollars/ScholarshipUniverse).

 

15% Scholarship Office Management/Supervision

 

• Customer service support and Scholarship Office management/supervision.

• Provide training, work direction and support to front office staff and supervision of Scholarship Office Student Staff who have various identities, cultural backgrounds, and communication styles and expectations.

• Respond to scholarship-related inquiries with staff.

 

10% Admissions/Recruitment Support

 

• Support the Recruitment team’s work with prospective students as it relates to scholarships.

• Participate in recruitment events and activities as appropriate.

• Collaborate in development of recruitment materials.

• Assist with the reading and scoring of Insight Resumes.

• Some travel and night or weekend work may be required.

 

5% Other Office Support

 

• Other projects and responsibilities as assigned.

 

What You Will Need

 

• Bachelor’s degree

• Minimum 2 years of experience in an administrative and/or supervisory role in a post-secondary Enrollment Management or Student Services office (e.g., Admissions, Financial Aid, Scholarships).

• Experience with providing customer service

• Experience providing leadwork/supervision for people with different backgrounds, cultures, and life experiences.

• Demonstrate computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet development, and data management.

• Experience with public speaking

• Excellent planning, organizational, analytical and decision-making skills.

• Experience working in a highly-collaborative, team-oriented environment.

 

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

 

What We Would Like You to Have


 

• Experience working with Banner or other student information systems.

• Experience with the administration of academic scholarships.

• Experience with a scholarship management system.

• A basic knowledge of federal and state student financial aid, including how to apply for aid, what types of aid programs are available, and the coordination of aid and scholarships.

 

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

 

Office setting, Monday through Friday with occasional travel and night or weekend work.
