Career Services Peer Career Advisor

Peer Career Advisors (PCA's) function as para-professional support staff in the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education. The PCA commitment involves approximately 5 hours of work weekly, participation in the recruitment and selection of the following year's CA staff, a willingness to work with peers in a fast-paced environment, being flexible and willing to adapt to change, and an interest in having fun while working with others.

 

Responsibilities

·        Assist students with resume development, cover letter writing and LinkedIn Profile development

·        Assist students in utilizing office resources for job or internship search, including Handshake and the Career Network

·        Facilitate resume and cover letter workshops each semester

·        Assist professional staff with projects when not meeting with students

·        May be asked to help answer phones when needed

·        Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

·        Must be a Sophomore, Junior or Senior

·        Strong oral communication and written skills

·        Attention to detail

·        Flexible and patient

·        Excellent interpersonal skills

·        Ability to maintain confidentiality

·        Must be a rising sophomore, junior or senior

·        Previous active engagement with Career Services is strongly preferred
