Pension Actuary Analyst
Fellowship Program Position: This Fellowship Program position is a full-time, temporary, limited term assignment not to exceed three years from the date of hire. It is intended for individuals that have graduated with a master's degree from an accredited college or university within the last 12 months.
The Pension Actuary Analyst is responsible for assisting with actuarial analysis. The incumbent will assist in coordinating with the Pension and Policy Research team and the TRS contract actuary, research pension data and perform actuarial analysis, analyze and report on financial information, and support program administration activities. This position will proactively work with Pension and Policy Research, Communications, Government Affairs, Benefits, and agency employees.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Data and Actuarial Analysis
• Analyzes pension data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas of action.
• Assists in model development, updates, and reporting.
• Supports ad hoc actuarial projects as needed.
• Assists with preparing statutory and legislative reports related to the TRS pension program.
• Assists with developing data for reporting and analysis for the TRS pension program.
• Assists with pension program calculations.
• Assists with reviewing and analyzing agency policies, procedures, and forms and recommending changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Reviews legislation for potential agency impact using actuarial practices.
• May communicate findings in presentations and in correspondence.
Financial Analysis and Reporting
• Reviews and analyzes statistical and financial reports, including reports; and reports monitoring the financial status of the TRS pension program.
• Assists with financial models to evaluate the value of TRS pension and other services.
• Assists with the development of fund balance projections for the TRS pension.
• Assists with researching, compiling, and analyzing data; entering data into spreadsheets, databases, and other automated applications; and preparing complex queries and reports.
• Assists with various quantitative projects and/or financial modeling.
Fellowship Curriculum
• Participates in trainings and projects related to the TRS Fellowship Program including webinars, quarterly check-ins, classes or other learning activities, book group, projects, and the mentoring program.
• Meets TRS Fellowship Program deadlines and goals for completion of trainings in deliverables in a timely manner.
• Performs related work as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
Required Education
• Master's degree from an accredited college or university in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, statistics or a closely related field awarded within the last 12 months.
