Health And Wellness Coordinator

HEALTH & WELLNESS COORDINATOR 

POSITION DESCRIPTION Charity Cares Inc. and Charity Cares Early Academy is a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood education and support services to under-resourced families. We prioritize creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all children and their families.  

Our internships provide an opportunity for students to gain quality experiences in a community-based setting supporting children and families of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Students will be actively engaged with Charity’s staff, children, and families through experiential, work-based learning.  

We are seeking a caring and compassionate Health and Wellness Coordinator to join our team. The Health and Wellness Coordinator will support the health and well-being of the children in our early childhood program, working closely with our administration, staff and families to ensure a safe and healthy environment. We provide an opportunity for intern students to implement professional skills and talents, exude positive energy, and gain holistic feedback. 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES 

Assist in providing daily health services, including basic first aid, administering medication, and managing health records. 

Conduct regular health screenings and assessments, such as vision, hearing, and developmental screenings. 

Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for children, monitoring for signs of illness and implementing appropriate measures. 

Document and manage health-related information, including health plans, immunization records, and incident reports. 

Collaborate with Lead Care Educators to integrate health education into the daily curriculum and activities. 

Provide care and follow established protocols for handling medical emergencies. 

Maintain confidentiality with families and with other staff members. 

Participate in professional development opportunities related to pediatric health and early childhood care. 

Support the overall well-being of children by promoting healthy habits and routines. 

Provide guidance and training to staff on health and safety practices. 

Assist in the planning and implementation of health education activities and programs. 

Coordinate with local healthcare providers and resources for children’s health needs. 

Additional duties as deemed necessary to maintain the overall success of Charity. 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Charity Cares Inc. and Charity Cares Early Academy operates within the confines of all governing agencies. For this position, students who most closely match the following criteria will be considered for employment: 

Have completed at minimum nine or more credits in Nursing, Health & Human Services, Early Childhood Education, or a related field; or have prior documented experience in pediatric health care. 

Complete the required professional development commitment of 24 hours annually. 

Possess the ability, competence, and knowledge to implement program regulations. 

Respect and love for children and their families. 

Maintain a disposition to work positively within a team. 

POSITION SKILLS GAINED Participating students will increase their future employability through skills gained in our environment. Students will learn to manage health services in a preschool setting, provide early care and health education to young children, and assist with the organization of health records and resources in ways that promote a safe and healthy environment that supports child safety and well-being. Charity is a fast-paced environment that requires attentiveness and care. The skill most gained from this learning experience is direct support to young children and their families. Additional skills include:

Gain practical experience in a supportive and dynamic environment 

Opportunity to work with experienced professionals in the field of early childhood education and healthcare
