Social Services Coordinator

SOCIAL SERVICES COORDINATOR

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Charity Cares Inc. and Charity Cares Early Academy is a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood education and support services to under-resourced families. We prioritize creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all children and their families. 

Our internships provide students with an opportunity to gain quality experiences in a community-based setting supporting children and families of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Through experiential, work-based learning, students will be actively engaged with Charity’s staff, children, and families. 

We are seeking a compassionate and organized Social Services Coordinator to join our team. The Social Services Coordinator will assist in providing support and resources to children and families to help ensure their overall well-being and success. We allow intern students to implement professional skills and talents, exude positive energy, and gain holistic feedback.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist in conducting needs assessments for children and families.
  2. Support the development and implementation of individualized service support plans.
  3. Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for children, monitoring for signs of illness and implementing appropriate measures.
  4. Help connect families with community resources and services, such as healthcare, therapeutic care, children’s behavioral health, housing, food assistance, childcare assistance, and basic needs/clothing support.
  5. Serve routine weekly hours at our Children’s Clothing Closet for family shopping hours.
  6. Provide support in crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
  7. Assist in coordinating and facilitating parent workshops and support groups.
  8. Help maintain accurate and confidential records of services provided.
  9. Collaborate with staff to ensure a holistic approach to child and family support.
  10. Ensure all interactions are conducted with sensitivity and respect for cultural and individual differences.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Charity Cares Inc. and Charity Cares Early Academy operate within the confines of all governing agencies. For this position, students who most closely match the following criteria will be considered for employment:

  1. Have completed at minimum nine or more credits in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or Sociology.
  2. Strong organization and interpersonal skills.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Ability to work well in a team and independently.
  5. Compassionate, patient, and respectful towards children and families.
  6. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  7. Complete the required professional development commitment of 24 hours annually.
  8. Possess the ability, competence, and knowledge to implement program regulations.
  9. Previous experience in social services and community outreach is a plus.

POSITION SKILLS GAINED Participating students will increase their future employability through skills gained in our environment. Students will learn to manage health services in a preschool setting, provide early care and health education to young children, and assist with the organization of health records and resources in ways that promote a safe and healthy environment that supports child safety and well-being. Charity is a fast-paced environment that requires attentiveness and care. The skill most gained from this learning experience is direct support to young children and their families. Additional skills include:
