Spanish Language Support Intern

SPANISH LANGUAGE SUPPORT INTERN

POSITION DESCRIPTION Charity Cares Inc. and Charity Cares Early Academy are faith-based nonprofit organizations that provide high-quality early childhood education and support services to under-resourced families. We prioritize creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all children and their families. 

Our internships allow students to gain quality hands-on experience in a community-based setting supporting children and families of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Students will actively engage with Charity’s staff, children, and families through experiential, work-based learning.

We seek a bilingual and culturally sensitive Spanish Language Support Intern to join our team. The Intern will assist in enhancing our bilingual education program, supporting Spanish-speaking families, providing Spanish lessons, and promoting cultural diversity within our program. We allow intern students to implement professional skills and talents, exude positive energy, and gain holistic feedback.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist in developing and implementing bilingual (Spanish-English) curricula and activities.
  2. Support teachers in conducting bilingual lessons and activities.
  3. Provide translation and interpretation services for Spanish-speaking families and staff.
  4. Assist in creating and distributing bilingual materials, such as newsletters, flyers, and educational resources.
  5. Help organize and facilitate cultural events and programs celebrating Hispanic heritage and diversity.
  6. Support communication between Spanish-speaking families and our program.
  7. Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  8. Ensure all interactions and activities align with our mission, values, and safety guidelines and are conducted with sensitivity and respect for cultural and individual differences.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Charity Cares Inc. and Charity Cares Early Academy operate within the confines of all governing agencies. For this position, students who most closely match the following criteria will be considered for employment:

  1. Currently enrolled in a relevant program including Spanish, Education, Translation Studies, and Bilingual Education.
  2. Fluent in Spanish and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to work well in a team and independently.
  5. Previous experience in bilingual education or translation is a plus. 
  6.  

POSITION SKILLS GAINED Participating students will increase their future employability through skills gained in our environment. Students will learn to manage health services in a preschool setting, provide early care and health education to young children, and assist with organizing health records and resources to promote a safe and healthy environment that supports child safety and well-being. Charity is a fast-paced environment that requires attentiveness and care. The skill most gained from this learning experience is direct support to young children and their families. Additional skills include:
