Care Educator Intern

CARE EDUCATOR

POSITION DESCRIPTION 

Charity Cares Inc. and Charity Cares Early Academy is a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood education and support services to under-resourced families. We prioritize creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all children and their families.  

Our internships provide an opportunity for students to gain quality hands-on experiences in a community-based setting supporting children and families of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Students will be actively engaged with Charity’s staff, children, and families through experiential, work-based learning.  

We are seeking enthusiastic Care Educators to join our team. Our Care Educators actively work with lead staff to serve as caregivers, educators, and teachers for children enrolled ages two months through ten years. We provide an opportunity for intern students to implement professional skills and talents, exude positive energy, and gain holistic feedback. 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES 

Assist Lead Care Educators with the children’s daily care and education routines. 

Implement daily schedules, care routines, lesson plans, and schedules. 

Document children’s care and education, daily routines, developmental milestones, and other necessary information. 

Maintain Care Space duties that are equally shared among ALL Care Space (classroom) staff. 

Maintain all required classroom recordkeeping, child reports and assessments, and monthly professional development training. 

Maintain a calm, organized, structured, stimulating, nurturing environment where children are cared for, thrive, learn and play. 

Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for children in care; monitor children’s health; and report any suspected abuse. 

Maintain compliance of all governing policies, standards, and regulations for Charity, FSSA licensing, Paths to Quality, and NECPA accreditation. 

Maintain confidentiality for families.  

Maintain open communication with children, families, and other staff members. 

Provide daily implementation of the assigned schedule, lesson plans, and activities to promote individual child goal progression. 

Provide direct engagement and interaction that supports emotional, social, physical and cognitive development. 

Provide loving care and education to all children in care and establish routines that promote and encourage positive guidance. 

Provide positive guidance, establish predictable routines, and implement positive, affirming discipline techniques as necessary. 

Provide quality supervision, both sight and sound, with children continuously throughout the day while maintaining ratios. 

Complete necessary training requirements and attend staff meetings.  

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS 

Charity Cares Inc. and Charity Cares Early Academy operate within the confines of all governing agencies. For this position, students who most closely match the following criteria will be considered for employment: 

Have completed at minimum nine or more credits in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, or Health & Human Services; or earned a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential; OR Candidates with prior documented experience in Music, Health & Human Services, Computer Science, Fine Arts, Technology, and Physical Education. 

Complete the required professional development commitment of 24 hours annually. 

Possess the ability, competence, and knowledge to implement program rules and regulation. 

Respect and love for children and their families. 

Maintain a disposition to work positively within a team environment. 

POSITION SKILLS GAINED 

Participating students will increase their future employability through skills gained in our environment. Students will learn to manage health services in a preschool setting, provide early care and health education to young children, and assist with the organization of health records and resources in ways that promote a safe and healthy environment that supports child safety and well-being. Charity is a fast-paced environment that requires attentiveness and care. The skill most gained from this learning experience is direct support to young children and their families. Additional skills include:
