Hawthorn Children's Psychiatric Hospital provides specialized care for children and adolescents diagnosed with mental illness.
Hawthorn Children’s Psychiatric Hospital uses the Sanctuary Model to guide our interactions with our teammates and the care we provide to our consumers in order to promote healing, safety, and nonviolence. This is accomplished by following the Foundation of Sanctuary – The Four Pillars of (1) Trauma Theory, (2) Seven Commitments, (3) S.E.L.F. (Safety, Emotion, Loss, and Future), (4) Sanctuary Tool Kit.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and oversight to the Dietary Department with team of twelve, collaboratively hiring staff and developing supervisors to be successful in leading all employees to uphold standards. Provide monthly training to all Dietary staff. Address personnel matters when necessary.
- Develop and adjust policies and procedures to assure kitchen menus, and environment are compliant with health, safety, The Joint Commission (TJC) and School Nutrition Program regulations.
- Monitor quality indicators and food and labor costs monthly. Address equipment needs; recommend purchases when warranted. Make Dietary staffing schedule and oversee time clock records.
- Assess clients’ nutrition and provide for their nutritional care and education
- Participate in the hospital’s mission by orienting direct care and medical staff to nutritional aspects of care. Participate in Committees: Environment of Care, Quality Council, Clinical Management Committee (CMC), Wellness and others if assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of fiscal management and applicable state and federal regulations and standards. Ability to formulate policies, procedures and standards in an integrated system of food service management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership and coaching skills
Eligibility Requirements:
A successful candidate must meet the minimum qualification in order to determine eligibility. Allowable experience and education substitutions are provided in italics below the corresponding system of food service management.
- Licensure and 6 or more years’ experience as a Dietitian
- 3 years of more supervisory experience preferred
- Experience directing food service in a residential healthcare facility preferred
