(1116) Youth Mental Health Peer Specialist

Services include youth peer support, Person-Centered Planning, Wellness Recovery Action Planning, Whole Health Action Management, Seeking Safety, and Recovery Dialogue. The primary responsibility of a youth peer specialist is to help individuals identify and achieve their own needs, wants, and goals. The Youth Peer Specialist will primarily work with families and youth after a crisis episode.   The Certified Peer Specialist will facilitate and document individual and/or group services at in the community, at BTCS clinics, and at residential crisis programs such as Youth Therapeutic Respite. The Certified Peer Specialist will work closely with Case Managers, Nursing Staff, Counselors, Leadership and other Bluebonnet Trails Community Services staff to ensure continuity of care for the individuals receiving services. The Certified Peer Specialist may be asked to work a variable schedule with some evenings and weekends, as needed. This in person or telehealth Peer Support will be provided in Burnet, Williamson, Bastrop, Fayette, Lee, Guadalupe, Gonzales, and Caldwell Counties as needed.

Salary: $17.30 - $21.05/hr

Career Ladder:

$Up to $2.00/hr – previous experience in a similar role at a community center

$1.00/hr – 2 years with BTCS

Bilingual:

$.75/hour Bilingual/ASL

$200 Monthly Service Delivery Bonus

Minimum Qualifications: Lived experience with recovery from mental health challenges, Experience receiving mental health services from youth programming services.
High School Diploma or equivalent, Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain approved driver’s status throughout employment. Must obtain Mental Health Peer Support certificate within six months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred AND required education, experience, job knowledge, sills, and abilities helpful; in the performance of this position, as indicated below: Current Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Seminar II certificate, Re-entry endorsement, Co-Occurring endorsement, Mental Health Peer Support certifications by Via Hope, Peer Recovery Support Specialist Certification (or equivalent), Whole Health Action Management (WHAM) practitioner, Seeking Safety practitioner, 3+ years experience working as a peer specialist
