STEM Student Interns

About the position:

The Kansas City District missions include Civil Works, Military Construction, Regulatory, and the cleanup of Hazardous, Toxic and Radiation waste (Environmental).  We are looking to hire student interns to support these missions. We have multiple entry level opportunities available in several of these mission departments. Mentorship is provided throughout the program.  Individual Development Plan to create and track career planning, professional development, and training activities. Positions offer opportunity for career advancement.

Salary Range:  $35,499 to $52,252

Conversion Potential: (upon graduation): $39,576- $124,061

Work Schedule: Flexible                                           

Incentives: Relocation and Recruitment incentives MAY be available. 

Who May Apply: Post Secondary Students

Interns are hired on a temporary basis for up to one year for an initial period, or for an indefinite period, to complete the educational requirement. Interns may work either part- or full-time. Interns may be converted to a permanent position (or, in some limited circumstances, to a term position lasting 1-4 years) within 120 days of successful completion of the program. Upon graduation, may be converted to a permanent position with promotion potential to GS-12.

Qualification Requirements for Initial Appointment:

GS-3: Completion of 1 academic year of post-high school study

GS-4: Completion of 2 academic years of post-high school study or Associate's degree

 (must maintain a least 2.0 GPA and in good Academic Standing)

Promotion Requirements:

Student trainees may be promoted to higher-graded trainee positions based on completion of portions of the education and student trainee work experience.
