R&D/Sustainability Engineer
Gamco Corporation, which has been recognized in Glass Magazine’s Top Metal Companies for a number of years, is a premier manufacturer of quality fenestration systems and special architectural metal facades and building elements. We custom manufacture complete systems for storefronts, curtain walls, skylights, interior glass walls, solariums, sunrooms, and a broad spectrum of exterior and interior architectural metal components. We’ve been manufacturing and fenestration quality products for over 35 years and have graced many notable buildings in the New York Metropolitan Area since 1986.
Gamco is currently looking for a full time R&D/Sustainability Engineer to join our growing R&D team. You will focus on producing shop drawings for fabrication and developing detailed submittal drawings for contractors, architects, and engineers and Perform life cycle assessments (LCA) to evaluate the environmental impacts of products or processes.
Experience in architectural metal and glass is a plus, but not required. Learning is accomplished through on-the-job training. Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and in a timely manner is required. Additional duties and responsibilities include:
- Producing Some AutoCAD graphical sketches
- Creating quotes and entering into Our System
- Participating in Project development and detailing Specification
- researching and educating the team on our options for making Gamco Products more environmentally Friendly and efficient
- Participating in the development and testing of new and updated products
- using research to advice and drive business decisions.
- Develop and pilot new technologies and processes that improve environmental performance.
- Assess the environmental impact of new and existing products and suggest improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor in either Civil Engineering or Material Science/Sustainability/Architecture
- 3-5 years of Experience
- AutoCAD
- Energy Simulation Tool a plus
- Structural Simulation Tool a plus
- Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) a plus.
- Knowledge of current software and strong computer skills.
- Knowledge of construction and fabrication methods.
- Knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
- Ability to read and understand Architectural drawings, from schematic phase to completion.
- Highly organized, capable of multitasking, and dependable to meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail, capable of pointing out mistakes and correcting them.
Proficient in both verbal and written communication.
