Right now, we’re looking for 1 Co-Op to support our Research & Development OTC team in career defining work.
A career in R&D where none of us stand still.
The R&D OTC Co-Op will support the R&D OTC team with new product development by developing formulations and/or providing analysis and evaluation of material and products at all stages of the development process for OTC Pain brands such as Advil, Voltaren, and Excedrin. This individual would have various levels of involvement in the development of conventional and non-conventional solid, semi-solid, liquid, powder and other formulations. This role will be based in Richmond, VA.
What will your individual contribution at Haleon be?
- Contributing to projects in support of Brand Innovation strategy. Exercises a wide degree of technical sophistication in accomplishing assigned objectives.
- Communicating with business acumen and interacts with internal commercial/marketing colleagues as well as third party suppliers.
- Support in communicating, translating, and presenting scientific data to technical and non-technical business partners and in scientific forums.
- Supporting in the design of experiments and carrying out scientific work with an awareness of state-of-the-art technology. Creating research plans to fit overall project objectives.
- Ensuring all work is conducted in accordance with written procedures (e.g. quality and safety), methods & batch documents, etc.

- Maintaining awareness of scientific literature to assist work progression and understanding.
- Highlights own training needs and working with manager develop a training plan and achieve training goals.
- Develops knowledge of regulations impacting areas of work (e.g. EP/USP/ICH)

- Participating in consumer engagement research to understand the category and needs
- Collaborating with Consumer Understanding and Sensory scientists and contributes to the development of consumer-driven innovation

- Maintains precise experimental records; issues report at project milestones; writes invention records to protect scientific discoveries.
- Ensuring all work is always conducted following good scientific practice and Good Manufacturing Practice (where required).

To enable you to perform in this future talent opportunity:
Education required:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate (Senior level) or Master’s degree in Food, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Nutritional, Biological or related science.
- Ability to apply scientific principles and techniques to assigned projects.
- An ability to organize and report study data from internal and external sources
- Ability to work 20-30 hours per week at our R&D site in Richmond, VA
- Must be eligible to work in the US at the time of, and for the duration of employment. Employees will be required to furnish evidence of US work authorization. Applicant must not require future sponsorship for an employment visa status
Expected start date: Duration of 6 months starting September 2024
