Accountant Trainee
Begin your Accounting career today as an Accountant Trainee within the Local Government Programs & Services Division of the State Controller's Office! This entry level position is the perfect starting point for a career in civil service.
Under the general direction of the Accounting Administrator II and close supervision provided by the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), and utilizing knowledge of governmental accounting, auditing, financial reporting, and procedures prescribed by SCO, the incumbent is responsible for performing less complex analytical duties concerning legislative and accounting policy work that provides guidance to local government agencies. The incumbent, operating at the entry trainee level of this class, with a progression of independence over time, and allowing for opportunities of increasing responsibility, learns and performs a full range of duties and responsibilities.

What are the minimum qualifications needed to apply?
- Education: Either -
1. Equivalent to graduation from college, with specialization in accounting. OR
2. Completion of a prescribed professional accounting curriculum given by a residence or correspondence school of accountancy, including courses in elementary and advanced accounting, auditing, cost accounting and business law. OR
3. Completion of the equivalent of 19 semester hours of course work; 16 hours of which shall be professional accounting courses given by a collegiate-grade residence institution, including courses in elementary and advanced accounting, auditing, and cost accounting; and three semester hours of business law.
- Experience: There is no general experience requirement, applicant must meet education requirement.
