EPP Data Analyst and Stat Associate (Pricing and Costing)

Functional Purpose

Performs a variety of analyses, including conducting analysis on financial and operational data that are used to make informed decisions regarding Postal programs, policies, procedures, and systems. This is a first level of a three grade career ladder for data analytic professionals to develop the competencies, technical knowledge, and skills needed for success in the full-performance Data Analyst & Statistician EAS-21 position. At this level, incumbents apply entry-level technical knowledge, skills, and abilities to support department programs and projects. Candidates entering this career ladder will work closely with a mentor/coach and execute an Individual Development Plan outlining developmental requirements which have been tailored to the employee.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Assists with the analytics to support corporate business initiatives and applies appropriate mathematical formulas and statistical techniques into procedures for the collection, processing, analyses, and reporting of data.
  2. Participates in cross-functional teams to research and recommend technology enhancements to improve processes.
  3. Assists in identifying key findings through analytics and evaluates historical data.
  4. Assists in developing strategies for analyzing and prioritizing business problems using analytical tools and compiles datasets through database queries and other approaches for use in reporting and analysis.
  5. Assists in planning and developing data collection sampling systems and exploratory data analysis techniques (e.g., statistical modeling) to identify meaningful relationships, patterns, or trends from complex sampling and census source datasets.

Requirements

  1. Ability to conduct research, which includes design, implementation, collection and analysis of data, and summarization of findings.
  2. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Possession of a Bachelors or Graduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, or other closely related field from a college or university accredited by a national or regional accreditation organization recognized and sanctioned by the U.S. Department of Education. . MUST GRADUATE BY FEBRUARY 2025.
  3. Ability to use computer programs and software to summarize statistical data and create documents, reports and presentations.
  4. Knowledge of computer programming languages and software tools such as SAS, SQL, MicroStrategy, Visual Basic, Python, R or SPSS to construct, manage and manipulate datasets for statistical analysis.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  6. Ability to apply analytical research methods and techniques to evaluate and provide recommendations to complex business problems.
  7. Ability to analyze technical information to determine system requirements associated with revenue, volume and product cost reporting.
