Position Summary: The Bilingual or ELL Teacher provides direct classroom instruction to Bilingual students, collaborates with teachers, and provides guidance to bilingual teaching assistants.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Acts as an English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher
- Engages teachers in intensive ELL instruction
- Promotes a school-based professional community; serving as a resource to classroom teachers with ELL students
- Possesses the ability to plan, implement and evaluate standards-based instructional programs and lessons.
- Promotes a positive and collaborative culture within the school
- Collaborates with staff, administration, district and lead partner on implementation of the Illinois Learning Standards (ILS)
- Demonstrates knowledge of pedagogy, school improvement planning, and knows how to collect and utilize data to drive instruction.
- Follows all expectations required of teachers according on the RIEA Contract Agreement and RIMSD Board Policies
Required Education:
- Must possess Illinois Educator License
- Successful completion of a language examination in the non-English language to be taught.
Certifications, Licenses:
Illinois Secondary Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement
Required Experience/Qualifications:
- Bilingual clinical experience totaling 100 clock hours or three months of teaching experience in bilingual programs
- Participate with other classroom teachers to develop and implement instructional program and curriculum
- Ability to function effectively as a member of the school staff
Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:
Knowledge of and ability to speak, read, and write in a non-English language
