Medical Underwriting Internship - Part Time (Oct/Nov 2024 - April 2025)
We are excited to bring on a Medical Underwriting Intern to join our Group Protection team in October (or November) 2024.
The Medical Underwriting department is responsible for reviewing and processing applications for life and disability coverage as part of an annual enrollment, a family status change, or a late enrollment. The department uses current and historical data to evaluate risk. As an intern you will earn a competitive salary as you gain valuable work experience.
What you'll be doing
- Learn the basics of medical underwriting and how to use various systems and applications
- Assist Underwriters/Underwriting Admins with processing applications for group life and disability
- Review, evaluate, and categorize incoming documents; verify information for accuracy/appropriateness; and follow up with others for missing or questionable data
- Enter and retrieve information of varying complexity using computer systems and applications to update records, obtain information for others, and respond independently to most questions and problems
- Prepare insurance forms/documents and correspondence
- Participate in projects as needed

Must-Haves:
- College sophomore, junior or senior
- 15-20 hours/week part time flexible schedule
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred
