Student Intern (Reports to Instructional Technologist - Digital Media)
MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
The student worker will contribute to a range of assigned activities and projects relating to the function of the Digital Learning Team, with a focus on Digital Media. The Digital Media assistant role will include teaching and training students, faculty and staff on digital media software and equipment used for pedagogical purposes at HWS, assisting and taking lead on in depth projects in the Digital Learning Center and keeping up with the day-to-day responsibilities of the office.
The key aspect of this position is professional development through training and working with digital media software and equipment. The digital media assistant will gain expertise using digital media software and equipment, as well as comfort and experience troubleshooting and educating others in the HWS community. The candidate does not need to have expert-level knowledge going into the position, but an interest and eagerness to learn are highly valued.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading demos and workshops on software and equipment taught by the Digital Learning Team.
- Hold office hours/one-on-one sessions with students, staff and faculty on digital media software and equipment.
- Assemble, edit video content.
- Manage video collections.
- Research and test new equipment and software
- Inventory DLT equipment.
- Review documentation for equipment and software.
- Engage and create in depth digital media projects.
- Assemble checkouts and coordinate with IT Service desk.
- Assist Instructional Technologist: Digital Media with specified projects, workshops, in person instruction.
Qualifications –
- Basic understanding of Digital Media related products (Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, iMovie, Audacity, Wix).
- Eagerness to work with others and provide skilled and in-depth service to students, faculty, staff and any other members of the HWS community.
- Familiarity with DSLR and video cameras, audio recorders, basic production lights and other digital media equipment.
- Self-motivated learner who is comfortable completing independent tasks.
$15hr, 10 hours a week
