Mock Interview Day before Career Fair– Friday, September 13, 2024 (Hybrid)

Get ready for success at the Fall Career Fair by joining us for Mock Interview Day (MID)! This event, open to all students, provides a unique opportunity to practice your behavioral-based interviewing skills in a supportive and realistic environment, and offers you a chance to receive invaluable feedback from Miami University employer partners and recruiters.

Each 45-minute mock interview session, available between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, is designed to boost your confidence and sharpen your interview techniques. You'll gain insights and tips directly from industry professionals, helping you to stand out at the Fall Career Fair. In collaboration with student organizations SWE, NSBE, and SHPE, and the Mock Interview Program at the Center for Career Exploration & Success.

Apply by Tuesday, September 10, by 11:59 p.m.

Location: Career Center office at 0045 Armstrong Student Center (ASC) or Virtual on Zoom

 

 

Application Instructions

Step 1: Check your calendar for the times when you are free.

Step 2: Register and select a time slot:

  1. Apply to the job with your resume
  2. Log into Handshake.
  3. Click on your Handshake profile icon in the upper-right corner.
  4. Select “My Jobs,” then, from the listed options, click on the title that starts with the word “Interview…”
  5. Once the Interview Schedule page opens, scroll down and select the desired interview Time Slot.

Step 3: MARK YOUR CALENDAR for the date and time you selected.

 

Make sure to cancel your mock interview, if your schedule changes, through Handshake up until the registration deadline without penalty.  

  1. Log into Handshake.
  2. Click on your Handshake profile icon in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select “My Jobs,” then, from the listed options, click on the title that starts with the word “Interview…”
  4. Once the Interview Schedule page opens, scroll down and remove your Time Slot.

You can also withdraw your application from the event by  selecting “My Jobs” and clicking on the title that starts with the word “JOB…” 

 

Be advised that the Career Center’s No-Show/Late Cancelation Interview Policy applies to all Mock Interview Days. 

 

PREPARE FOR YOUR MOCK INTERVIEW:

 

Practice virtual interviewing with AI on the VMock Interviewing platform, where you can use three interviewing modules: Elevator Pitch (general, basic interview questions), Mock Interview (more advanced questions for specific industries), and Smart Interview (AI-generated interview questions for specific job descriptions, with AI feedback based on the student’s responses and resume).

 

Attend an Interview for Success Workshop.

Dress in professional attire, be on time, and bring a notebook and your resume to the interview.
