Athletics Fan Experience Intern (STEP)
The Fan Experience Intern is responsible for all aspects of a fan’s experience while attending an event. This person will assist with planning and coordinating halftime contests and pregame giveaways. They will work closely with the Multimedia Coordinator to create excitement and buzz before and during events on social media and throughout campus community. The Fan Experience Intern will also work to ensure Clash the mascot and UWO Cheer & Stunt team is entertaining the crowd and properly representing the department. This person will also work with all groups in attendance to provide them with an extra special experience. The Fan Experience Intern should have a very outgoing personality and an ability to engage fans in a friendly manner. You will report to Athletic department Multimedia Coordinator. This position will be interviewing the prospective candidates. All applications received for this position will be sent for review
Social Media/Fan Experience Expectations
- Post accurate and polished social media stories pre-game, in-game (ensure correct spelling, grammar, sport-specific terminology, player names, avoid using “Hail Titans”) including but not limited to promotions, highlights and regular score updates.
- Brainstorm content & in-game contest and promotional ideas.
- Assist with maintenance of our social media channels for all 20 sports as well as the department.
- Assist with Clash/Cheer Team needs- get them promotional items as necessary.
- Find fans to participate in in-game promotions & explain detailed instructions.
- Organize and execute in-game promotions and special recognition ceremonies.
- Ensure timeliness and order of promotions.
- Roll t-shirts, prepare other promotional materials as necessary
- Assist with scripting,
- Assist with takedown, setup or other duties as needed
- Must be able to work nights and weekends.
- January and late May/early June availability is a plus.
- Other duties as assigned.
All internship candidates applying for a position in the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Athletic Department must meet the following requirements:
• Must be available to work on evenings and weekends, as well as during normal business hours.
• Students participating in the STEP program are required to complete their paid hours within the office or at athletic events, unless authorized by Athletic Director.
• Outgoing personality with the ability to make large-group presentations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (writing, phone etiquette, conversational, etc) as well as strong attention to detail.
• Must have working knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite as well as some experience using a digital camera.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team setting to meet multiple project goals.
• Must be able take initiative, see tasks through to completion, and problem solve.
• Ability to work with sensitive information without discussing outside of the team.
• Willing to work extra hours as needed.
