District Float Nurse

Job Brief:  

  • This position will serve as an integral member of our school health team. This is a unique opportunity for a nurse to make an impact on all USD 383 schools.

Location: District Wide

 

Qualifications: 

  • RN license required.
  • All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.

Salary: 

  • Salary schedule begins at $45,875 and increases dependent on education and experience.
  • This position is eligible for benefits.
  • This position is a one-year, grant-funded position. For the future, we are pursuing funding for this position as a regular full -time school nurse position.

Hours Per Day: 

  • This position is employed during regular school hours.
  • This position may include contacting parents and/or students after hours.
  • This position may include working through the month of June.

  • For the 2023-2024 school year, USD 383 will pay the full health insurance premium for employees (Option C) and short-term disability insurance. Value of contributions per year-$7,788.

RETIREMENT:  

  • USD 383 makes monthly contributions to a 403(b)-retirement account for all certified and eligible employees.
  • KPERS (Kansas Public Employees Retirement System): 6% monthly staff contribution. Vested after five years.

TECHNOLOGY:   

  • District provided devices - iPad, laptop, and/or desktop for certified staff.

REPORTS TO:    

  • Director of Communications, Health, and Safety.

JOB DUTIES: 

  • Assists other school nurses who need additional office coverage for student support, screenings, or other responsibilities.
  • Assumes responsibility for the first aid care of a student or staff member who has suffered injury or illness.
  • Reports to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on school medical matters.
  • Advises teachers on health matters.
  • Support other school nurses who are working with students who are presenting with an infectious disease/COVID.
  • Support POC and/or OTC testing measures for Flu/COVID.
  • Stay up to date on KDHE guidance changes related to infectious disease management.
  • Work with Riley County Health Department and/or local health care providers to ensure that all USD 383 students are up to date on required immunizations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EVALUATION:  

  • Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board of Education’s policy on evaluation of certified personnel.

FSLA Status: Exempt.
