Proctor and Program Coordinator

Test Innovators is an educational technology company that leverages data to provide students with personalized test practice. The Test Innovators data-driven online platform provides each student with the most impactful practice, teaching them test-taking skills and helping them build confidence. Test Innovators is committed to helping students gain access to quality education by ensuring they put their best foot forward on test day.

In addition to test practice, Test Innovators offers schools an admissions solution called the Online Essay. The Online Essay  is a proctored writing sample administered to students applying to independent schools as part of the admissions process. It is administered virtually with students receiving instructions from a live proctor via Zoom who also monitors them for the duration of the online essay session. During the online essay session, students are presented with a single essay prompt and have 30 minutes to type their response. After the essay response, students will have an additional 15 minute analytical thinking exercise as part of their online essay session. Their submission is then sent to requested schools to be included in their admissions application.

The Online Essay Proctor and Program Coordinator is a temporary, part-time position requiring weekend work every weekend from October to February, with a few hours of weekday work as well. This would be a great opportunity for a college/grad student or someone with a flexible work schedule who is looking for a side gig. You will be running the operations of our Online Essay product, which will include setting up each session on our backend, proctoring students in a Zoom session, and downloading essays after the session. The proctoring will require you to oversee a group of 30-50 students on Zoom as they respond to a writing prompt.  Onboarding for this seasonal, temporary position will start early October. The position will require 5-8 hours a week, with an increase to about 12 hours a week over the Thanksgiving weekend, and winter break (but no work required on actual holidays).  A typical week might be 5 hours of mid-day proctoring over the weekend with some backend work required on Friday and Monday.

There is a set schedule for the proctoring of the essays, so the right candidate will be available for most of the sessions.  We are looking for someone with experience working with students, and a friendly demeanor to calm students as they are nervous for their assessment.

  • Ability to multitask
