Commercial Vehicle Testing & MBD Intern
JOB SUMMARY
Provides hands-on assistance to Engineers. Supports testing, EVAP modeling and engineering operations as needed. Acquires experience in different disciplines within the powertrain [GAS- Aftertreatment System] and vehicle development areas. Intern will perform task of increasing complexity throughout the internship period.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (% of time spent on each activity)
70% Works with engineers to learn and perform EVAP modeling, data analysis techniques and procedures.
25% Assists with the collection and processing of virtual and/or physical vehicle performance and telematics data and communicates results to appropriate personnel.
5% Participate in test trips when related vehicle testing; evaluates performance during vehicle performance evaluations.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
• Reports to: Manager – CV Testing & MBD
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING (preferred)
• Master’s degree in Automotive/Mechanical Engineering
KNOWLEDGE
• Knowledge & research experience in ICE Engine , transmission systems & testing preferred.
• Knowledge of Full Vehicle Systems - EVAP system , emission system , aftertreatment system.
• Strong knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink: develop algorithms and automate data processing
• Strong interpersonal and technical problem-solving skills
SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Experience with model-based development tools such as MATLAB/Simulink.
• Experience with 1-D physical modeling tools such as AVL-Cruise, GT-Suite, and/or similar is preferred.
PHYSICAL STANDARDS
• Must be able to work in hot and cold weather extremes
• Requires infrequent lifting of 5-60 lbs. and heavy lifting on rare occasions
