Youth Ministry Resident

Ministry Resident Program 

 

A 1-2 year residential ministry program combining in-depth experience in one area of ministry, biblical and theological classes, guided spiritual formation, mentorship, and broad exposure to a variety of church ministry. The Youth Ministry Resident  will work closely with either the Middle School Pastor (MS Pastor) or High School Pastor (HS Pastor) to learn and seek God’s direction for ministering to students in Palo Alto and the surrounding areas. 

 

Housing is available.

 

This position is intended to be a one-year term of employment (with an option to extend to two years). This position has the possibility of including housing.

 

  • Hours: Full-Time (40 Hours/Week)
  • Compensation: $18.50/hour plus benefits. A potential option for housing consistent with all applicable laws.
  • Hire Date: September 2024

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Provide regular, focused communication to students, parents, and leaders consistent with other communication practices at PBC.
  • Help plan, coordinate, and manage registrations for events and trips, including:
    • Monthly Special events
    • Winter & Summer Camp (Hume Lake)
    • Special Events
  • Attend weekly youth ministry team meetings
  • Attend and assist with volunteer leadership training and “check-ins”
  • Help lead, coordinate, and conduct digital and in-person youth ministry meetings including:
    • Schedule teachers & worship leaders as necessary
    • Lead/co-lead a small group Bible study for students
    • As requested, host, lead games, and teach at youth ministry meetings and understand all aspects of the schedule/agenda
    • Purchase (to be reimbursed) and pick up necessary resources for programming and/or events
  • Mentor and teach biblical truths to students in formal settings (Leadership Institute will assist in this)
  • Build intentional relationships with students at their homes, school events, and other informal situations
  • Occasional lifting of 20 pounds required for events and set up

 

Job Qualifications

  • Growing and vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • A passion for investing in and walking along-side students to show them the love of Christ
  • Ongoing dependence on the Holy Spirit to direct and modify ministry plans, areas of emphasis, and responses to student/family needs and requests
  • Experience working with middle school or high school students
  • Good administrative and organizational skills
