As an accredited public health department, we're seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Customer Service Representative 3 to join the Division of Medical/Clinical Services, Public Health Laboratory located in Decatur, GA.

The position is assigned to the Support Services Manager at the Decatur Laboratory and works independently to support to all laboratory operations including but not limited to: Accessioning, Data Entry, Reports & Records, Outfitting & Customer Service, Newborn Screening and Reception.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • This position researches and resolves unsatisfactory specimen issues for the Newborn Screening Program, Accessioning and laboratory departments. Investigates problem specimens related to collection, IT interface or Web Portal issues, and packaging.
     


 

  • Develops relationships with hospitals and other submitters to provide a high level of customer service for a variety of request, including resolution of problem specimens, questions regarding reports and the creation of accounts for new submitters.


 

  • Directly involved in the development and critique of reports for administration. Assist the manager with presentations and research projects concerning Quality Improvement, work flow and organization of departments overseen by the manager.


 

  • Orders supplies for Accessioning, Data Entry and Reports and Records.


 

  • Provides support to all laboratory operations including but not limited to: Accessioning, Data Entry, Reports & Records, Outfitting & Customer Service, Newborn Screening and Reception. During times of turnover, absences and high-volume testing, this position will perform:
    •    Data Entry for Newborn Screening, Bacteriology, and STD testing
    •    Opening packages and accessioning specimens in the Accessioning Department
    •    Data Entry verification, filing requisitions and prepping reports for mailing in Reports and Records.
    •    Receiving, filling and shipping requested supplies in Outfitting/Customer Service for DPH Laboratory customers.
    •    Order collection supplies for Outfitting/ Customer Service.  
    •    Covers lunch, meetings and absences for the reception desk

     

This position is encouraged to be an ambassador and represent Support Services and the laboratory in the DPH Wellness program.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university,

OR

Three years of experience in a customer service setting communicating information,

OR

Two years of experience required at the lower level Customer Svc Rep 2 (GST121) or position equivalent.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds. 
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • In-depth knowledge of Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in science
  • Knowledge of the Clinical Laboratory
