The Human Resources Division (HRD) provides guidance, support, and expertise to the CDPH on the recruitment, development, and retention of quality employees in order to fulfill the Department’s mission. 

The Assistant Industrial Hygienist (AIH) implements Department-wide H&S programs and policies, and performs a variety of investigations, monitoring, and inspection activities of average difficulty for the purpose of identifying, addressing, and preventing workplace hazards that may lead to employee H&S problems. The AIH works with laboratory managers and is a member of the Laboratory Practices Health and Safety Committee to provide oversight related to workplace hazards and laboratory practices and achieve consensus on remedial action if an occupational hazard is detected. The AIH also provides oversight to AIH staff working in the Center for Laboratory Services.

  • Ability to exercise good judgment
  • Knowledge of control agencies laws, rules, procedures, and resource manuals to complete complex assignments
  • Knowledge of modern office methods and equipment, including experience with personal computers utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to analyze data and present ideas and information effectively
