Land Representative - Mine Reclamation

RES

RES is seeking a Land Representative - Mine Reclamation with 3+ years of experience based out of our Pennsylvania, Ohio, or Illinois offices.

The mission: RES currently is expanding our activities in mine reclamation, and this position will be working on land acquisition for new, large and complex environmental restoration projects. We are looking for a skilled communicator who knows how to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within RES, including Project Management, Legal, Regulatory, Design, Sales, Ecology, and Construction. You will also represent RES before the community and have the ability to navigate land negotiations for all project phases, from conception to successful completion.

What your day-to-day might look like?

You will be developing relationships with prospective landowners and community business leaders, thus securing property rights, and enabling project realization. It involves interaction with many of the RES functions, including sales, regulatory, and field operations teams, analysts, and in-house counsel – thus, communication skills are key to success.

 

Around 80% of your time, you will be working on sourcing for new deals - researching suitable landowners, contacting them, and updating software reports. You will be then assisting in negotiations with the selected landowners on their properties, which can involve overnight stays. 

 

Around 10% of your time will be dedicated to assisting in pre-acquisition and negotiation processes. You will also assist in due diligence items including survey and title and assist in the preparation and organization of closing documents. Some assistance will be required for the development of projects in the proposal process for projects in different phases. 

  

Around 10% of your time, you will be doing analytical work - analyzing property data and land records for the suitability of restoration sites, running numbers associated with the acquisition of new land assets, and working with management to prepare and maintain monthly cash flow statements, and assisting in creating preliminary project budgets. 

 

Qualifications

We would love to speak with you if you have many of the following:

  • BA/BS in Real Estate, Land Management, Agriculture, or Ecology or equivalent work experience  
  • 2+ years of experience in land acquisition, real estate brokerage, or land management.
  • Acceptable driving record
  • ArcGIS experience
  • Passion for environmental stewardship and conservation 

What will make you stand out?

  • Familiarity with stream and wetland restoration, passive water treatment, or endangered species habitat restoration
  • Experience with the mining industry
