Upper Elementary/Middle School Science Co-Teacher

About the position

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Science Co-Teacher to join our dynamic faculty. The Science Co-Teacher is responsible for teaching and assisting Upper Elementary/Middle School science classes. They will develop lesson plans and assist in differentiating instruction to meet students’ needs.

 

Essential Functions:

Work collaboratively with the members of the science team to plan, teach and assist in   Upper Elementary/Middle School Science classes, including leading 1-2 classes.

Establish class routines and behavioral expectations

Write progress reports

Display a commitment to anti-bias and anti-racism work, promoting inclusion, belonging and equity through their work in the classroom and school community

Develop a joyful and productive learning community where students feel safe to take risks

Conduct conferences with parents/guardians three times a year and as necessary

Attend and participate in cluster meetings and science department meetings

Attend faculty and staff meetings; be an active member of the Gaynor community

Participate in division-wide activities, trips and events

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a science field or in education; graduate students welcome

Experience teaching science or STEM-related topics to upper elementary/middle school students

Experience working with children with learning differences preferred

Proficient time management to maximize student learning

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Set a respectful and positive tone in the classroom; ability to be flexible to adjust classroom instruction

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students staff and parents

Proficient in Google Workspace (Drive, Docs & Slides)
