Position highlights

As a Licensed Professional Counselor within the correctional setting, you will play a vital role in providing a range of clinical and case management functions to men entering the custody of the Department of Correction. This position presents a unique opportunity for you to make a positive impact and contribute to the well-being of individuals in need.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work with inmates with problematic sexual behavior: You will have the chance to work closely with individuals who are seeking treatment for problematic sexual behavior. Your expertise will be instrumental in providing them with the support they need to make positive changes in their lives.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions to address problematic sexual behavior using evidence-based practices, following the risk-need-responsivity model. You will play a crucial role in the rehabilitation process of the individuals you work with.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assist in sex offender treatment planning and classification within CT DOC (to include static and dynamic risk assessment measures): You will use your expertise to conduct thorough evaluations that will inform treatment plans and classification of individuals within the Connecticut Department of Correction. Your assessments will be essential in determining the appropriate interventions and level of care for each individual.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality with regard to client’s criminal records: As a Professional Counselor, you will handle sensitive information regarding clients' criminal records. Your dedication to maintaining strict confidentiality will ensure the privacy and dignity of those under your care.
  • Collaborate with custody, law enforcement, and the judicial system to incorporate treatment objectives: You will work collaboratively with custody staff, law enforcement, and the judicial system to ensure that treatment objectives are aligned and coordinated into the overall rehabilitation plan. Your collaboration will contribute to a comprehensive and effective approach to supporting offender rehabilitation.

This position is full time on first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM until 3:00 PM with rotating weekends and holidays.
