ECDC Internship Program opportunities include: 

Refugee Support Intern   

The Refugee Client Support Intern plays a crucial role in assisting refugees during their resettlement process, offering a unique and fulfilling experience with hands-on involvement in various aspects of refugee resettlement-related support. The primary responsibilities of the intern involve providing support to clients and client-facing teams in critical areas such as housing, healthcare, education, employment, legal services, and other essential resources, all of which contribute to the successful integration of refugees into their new community.   

   

Actively engaging with the community, the intern will have the opportunity to build relationships with local service providers and support services, promoting culturally and linguistically informed care through physical visits, emails, and phone contacts. Participation in team meetings, training sessions, and workshops enriches the intern's understanding of refugee issues and best practices, enhancing their effectiveness in providing support. Working closely with their supervisor and case managers, the intern ensures comprehensive and coordinated services for each client, guiding them to access community resources and social services that meet their specific needs and preferences. The intern maintains accurate and up-to-date client records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with relevant policies and regulations under the guidance and supervision of their supervisor.   

   

Community Engagement Intern   

As the Resources Development, Community Engagement, and Communications Intern, this internship will provide you with multifaceted experience supporting our organization's mission and outreach efforts. Under the guidance of our team, you will actively contribute to various aspects of resource development, community engagement, and communications to enhance our impact and presence within the community.   

   

You will collaborate with the donations team to manage and coordinate the receipt, storage, and distribution of donated goods to refugee clients. Your role will involve assisting in outreach efforts to potential donors, community organizations, and corporations, as well as participating in donation distribution efforts to clients and maintaining donor databases. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to writing grant proposals and funding applications to support our initiative further. Additionally, you will actively participate in community events, meetings, and outreach activities to raise awareness and garner support for our mission. Furthermore, your role will involve identifying new opportunities for community partnerships and collaboration to expand our reach and impact.   

   

Communications & Events Intern   

The Communications and Events Intern’s main responsibilities involves assisting in the development and execution of communication plans and events to effectively convey the organization's mission, values, and impact to diverse audiences. This includes creating compelling content for various platforms, such as newsletters, press releases, social media, and website updates. Throughout the internship, the Communications Intern has the opportunity to engage with the community, respond to inquiries, and interact with the audience to promote ECDC’s local branch activities and events. Additionally, as a key member of the resource development team, they will be assisting in the planning, organization, and execution of organization-wide events. This includes researching potential venues, vendors, and suppliers, as well as managing event logistics and timelines.
