313/616 Votes In-Person & Virtual Canvasser
The Michigan League of Conservation Voters Education Fund is seeking an In-Person & Virtual Canvasser to educate, engage and mobilize Michigan voters to participate in the 2024 General election and beyond.
Job Responsibilities
This position reports to the 313/616 Votes Project Lead and the Lead Canvassers and has responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Conducting predictive dialer phone and text banking
- Attending online training on all scripts and technology platforms used by Michigan LCVEF’s Democracy for All program
- Attending daily morning meetings, mid-day and evening debriefs
- Reporting any challenges voters face
- Attending as well as engaging with partners and voters at community events in Metro Detroit area
- Collecting and submitting voter registration cards to register eligible Michiganders to vote and re-register voters at their correct addresses
- Communicating consistently with the community about voting and accessibility information
Qualifications
We are seeking candidates who want to build genuine relationships and support voter education and mobilization efforts in Michigan. You should have:
- The ability to work from home or in person, as required, 35 hours per week, 12:00 - 7:00 PM Monday through Thursday and 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM on Fridays
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to listen to others and articulate their ideas clearly
- The ability to work well independently and with others as a team
- A strong work ethic, including a drive to complete goals and tasks in a timely manner as well as the ability to start work on time every day
- A belief in the importance of voting rights and voter education
- Reliable access to transportation, the internet, and a phone to use for work purposes
Dates & Compensation
This is a seasonal position running through November 8. Compensation is $19 per hour at 35 hours per week. This position will be hired through Diversified Employment Services.
