This position assists in and/or performs the analysis of training needs, the development and delivery of technical information systems training related to the Minnesota Justice Information Services (MNJIS) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) on a statewide basis to criminal justice agencies and community stakeholders, independently conducts MNJIS and NCIC compliance audits of small to medium-sized criminal justice agencies and non-criminal justice agencies as required by state statute, rule and/or policies to assure the agencies are utilizing federal and state criminal justice information systems appropriately.  This position works independently and under the general direction of the Assistant Director of MNJIS Training and Auditing, Lead Trainer and Lead Auditor to assist in the design and delivery of MNJIS and NCIC training online and in the classroom.  This position assists in the continual review and revision of training materials and audit procedures and criteria to meet evolving Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and MNJIS standards for appropriate use of the MNJIS and NCIC systems.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications

1) One (1) year of professional criminal justice experience OR Three (3) years of experience providing criminal justice administrative support

Experience must include:

  • Use of NCIC and MNJIS Hot Files, and Interstate Identification Index
  • Conducting training for adult learners in criminal justice agencies
  • Proficient skills and experience with Microsoft Office and presentation software
  • Working knowledge of criminal justice partner interrelationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

2) Experience facilitating adult classroom curriculum with active learning methods and engage students. 

3) Experience speaking in a variety of public settings. 

4) Ability to perform as a collaborative team member on projects, prioritize work and meet deadlines for all responsibilities.  

5) Must possess a valid Minnesota driver's license.

6) Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
 

Preferred Qualifications

1) Three (3) years of experience working in a criminal justice agency.

2) Criminal Justice Data Communications Network (CJDN) Operator certification.

3) Ability to read and comprehend public administration texts, federal rules, state statues, manuals, and other documents and correspondence to sufficiently interpret, revise, and draft comprehensive reports, procedures, correspondence and training communicating complex information in easy to understand terms.

4) Ability to adapt to organizational and program changes, constructively work under pressure, and effectively cope with ambiguity and setbacks.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others, and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
