Multi-Year Internship-Student Trainee (Physical Science) - ORD

Summary

This position is in the Office of Research and Development (ORD), Center for Environmental Measurement and Modeling, Atmospheric and Environmental Systems Modeling Division, Atmospheric Dynamics and Meteorology Branch.

This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.

Duties

You will:

  • Independently perform meteorological (e.g., WRF) and/or air quality (e.g., CMAQ) simulations.
  • Set up, implement and test new model code for meteorological air quality models.
  • Perform data analysis of meteorological and air quality model output.
  • Obtain, reformat, and quality assure new observational datasets for use in evaluating meteorological and air quality model output.
  • Help develop new model code and evaluation products using programming languages such as Fortran, R, CShell, or Python
  • Create reports and presentations (e.g., PowerPoint) on the model updates and evaluation results.
