Open Education Resources Student Assistant

Lydia M. Olson Library seeks a student to work with the Open Education Resources (OER) Working Group to support programming and research on open education and open pedagogy at NMU. Open Educational Resources (OER) are learning, teaching and research materials in any format and medium that reside in the public domain or are under copyright that have been released under an open license, that permit no-cost access, re-use, re-purpose, adaptation and redistribution by others. They are an important component of making education accessible and affordable. 

The student will be a de facto member of the OER Working Group in order to provide an undergraduate perspective. They will also support the Working Group Chair in running the OER Faculty Learning Community.  
 

In this position, the student will

  • Help to plan, organize, and promote OER events and workshops, such as the Celebration of Open Education
  • Maintain statistics and prepare reports
  • Participate in grant writing activities
  • Assist with user experience activities such as surveys, focus groups, interviews, data entry, and statistical analysis.
  • May require occasional evening and/or weekend hours.
  • Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods and/or statistics
  • Experience with or interest in inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility

Hours

This position will be a 10 hour a week position, and may require evening and/or weekend hours on an occasional basis. 

Wage

$12/hour
