Position Overview

The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Social Worker II for Elizabeth Packard Mental Health Center located in Springfield, Illinois to serve as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team. Performs extensive casework in the role of Treatment Coordinator for adult forensic patients on Stevenson Hall.  Conducts individual, group and family therapy on behalf of the patients.  Provides social work services for the unit, completes comprehensive social histories, social assessments and investigations.  Develops, designs, implements, and evaluates treatment plans.  Serves as a member of various Performance Improvement Teams and is a member of the Social Work Services Committee.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Provides social work services for the unit.
  2. Performs extensive casework in the role of Treatment Coordinator for adult forensic patients.
  3. Serves as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
  4. Prepares referral placement packets of patients, confirms records, reports and consents are completed.
  5. Serves as a member of various performance improvement teams and is a member of the social work services committee.
  6. Receives in-service and on-the-job training designed to enhance abilities.
  7. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires a master’s degree in social work from a recognized college or university supplemented by one (1) year of professional social work experience in the evaluation and treatment/habilitation of mentally ill, developmentally disabled or other disabled persons.
  • This Class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays.
  2. Requires the ability to obtain and maintain successful completion of CPI (Crisis Prevention and Intervention) Training within 60 days of employment.
  3. Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  4. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  5. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
