Research Scientist II (JR-0000937)

Responsibilities

The Research Scientist II will contribute toward research question development, study design, execution, analyses, interpretation, and presentation of results on cross-cutting research initiatives related to HIV/AIDS. Major responsibilities will include conducting statistical and epidemiologic analyses using the NYS HIV Registry; collaborating with staff to disseminate findings through fact sheets/infographics, tables, graphs, posters, reports, presentations, and publications; contributing to workgroups or committees and contribute towards evaluating epidemiological research. 

The incumbent will also coordinate and contribute to maternal/child/perinatal surveillance research projects. The incumbent will contribute toward developing study questions, perform data analyses, data dissemination, and reporting of HIV exposure, infection, and diagnosis of pregnant people living with HIV and their children. 

Other appropriate related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of research experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field and two years of research experience; or a Doctorate in a related field.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Strong data analysis and data management experience, particularly with large confidential health-related datasets.  Familiarity with HIV or other public health surveillance system data.  Advanced knowledge of SAS or SQL.  Familiarity with epidemiological research methods. Experience evaluating data quality, conducting data analysis, producing and synthesizing results for written reports, and contributing to publications. Experience creating infographics and graphical presentations of data.

 

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Travel, up to 25% of the time, will be required.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
