2024-2025 Peace Corps Prep Program

The Peace Corps is a service opportunity for motivated changemakers to immerse themselves in a community abroad, working side by side with local leaders to tackle the most pressing challenges of our generation.

Stony Brook University is proud of our 20-year relationship with Peace Corps. Peace Corps representatives have recruited on campus every semester, through job fairs, information sessions, panels, presentations, and career preparation activities with students, as well as meetings with faculty and advisors.

In Fall 2020, Stony Brook launched the Peace Corps Prep program. The Peace Corps Prep Program:

• Is an undergraduate certificate program that helps students build the competencies needed to be successful Peace Corps Volunteers.
• Develops within students four core competencies that the Peace Corps has identified as critical to the intercultural fieldwork Peace Corps Volunteers do.
• Creates frameworks for you to build these four competencies, integrating coursework with hands-on experience and professional development.
• Provides students who complete the program with a certificate from the Peace Corps—and a competitive edge when applying for Peace Corps service.

Benefits:

• While participation in the Prep Program won’t guarantee selection into Peace Corps, it will strengthen a candidacy.
• Join a cohort of students dedicated to service and promoting peace worldwide.
• Connect with Peace Corps Recruiters and Returned Volunteers.
• Discover additional opportunities to get involved in community engagement initiatives.
