Minimum Requirements
Anticipated Eligibility: Candidates within nine months of graduation may apply.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental, civil, or chemical engineering from an accredited college or university.
Physical & Medical Requirements: Ability to perform duties and work in required environmental conditions.
Licenses & Certifications: Valid motor vehicle operator’s license from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania if required by work assignment.

Residency Waiver: Must establish residency in Philadelphia within one year after appointment.
Preference Points
Philadelphia Residency: Priority for candidates who have maintained a Philadelphia residence for at least one year prior to the exam.
Veteran’s Preference: Ten points for eligible veterans.
Legacy Preference: Ten points for children or grandchildren of Philadelphia firefighters or police officers who died in the line of duty.
National Volunteer Service Preference: Up to five points for Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, or Teach for America service.
Philadelphia School District Career and Technical Education Preference: Up to five points for recent graduates of a Philadelphia School District CTE program.
Projected Exam Date
Training and Experience Evaluation: All approved applicants receive a score of 70, with additional points for preference. An eligible list will be established the week of August 19, 2024.
