This is a Student Internship position under the Pathways Internship Program.

To qualify for this internship, you must be a continuing student enrolled or accepted for enrollment for the upcoming semester for the duration of the internship as a condition of employment (taking at least a "half time" course load). You will be required to provide documentation (transcript, enrollment certification, etc.) to support eligibility. Students may be employed throughout the academic year.

This is a developmental position in FHWA - the position is designed to provide interns with challenging assignments that will broaden their perspectives on issues facing the government and prepare them for future positions throughout the government.

The Civil Engineer Pathways Student Intern will be exposed to and assist in the regular day-to-day activities of their assigned discipline of FHWA's Wyoming Federal-aid Highway Division. The intern will work directly under and be mentored by the Wyoming Division's "Engineering Services Supervisor." The position offers the opportunity for travel to visit various project sites.

The selectee will:

  • Attend regular WYDOT meetings, and could be exposed to Engineering, Environment, and possibly other Programs.
  • Work with Grants Program Management and assist in the management of discretionary grants.

The ideal candidate is a student dedicated to public service, interested in Engineering, and working as a part of the Executive Branch.

Additionally, the ideal candidate possesses Microsoft Office knowledge; Customer Service experience; is inquisitive & has a positive attitude; is eager to learn and understand federal policy & guidance; and has an innovative mindset.
