Cadet Intern
Job Responsibilities
The Cadet intern will:
- Maintain a professional demeanor.
- Demonstrate the Ohio State Highway Patrol Core Values.
- Be required to complete the physical fitness assessment each month.
- Successfully complete the Cadet Internship Training Manual with the assistance of the post mentor.
- Learn the Division's structure, Mission Statement, Code of Conduct, Core Values, radio signals, criminal and traffic laws, proper cleaning techniques for equipment.
- Assist post personnel with various administrative duties (e.g., filing, database entry, answering phones, greet visitors).
- Operate the LEADS terminal.
- Assist at various events, OVI checkpoints, and traffic crashes.
- Assist the Commercial and Salvage Inspection Teams and Court Liaison Officer.
- Participate in community programs.
- Perform post maintenance duties.
- Ensure care of patrol cars.
- Assist Field Recruiters in college and high school career days, applicant contacts and speech details.
- Participate in the Cadet Internship Ride-Along Program with the post mentor.
- *Cadets Interns will have no authority or police powers
- Cadet Interns will NOT perform the duties of a trooper.
- At NO time are Cadet Interns allowed to make arrests, issue citations, or confront persons suspected of criminal behavior.
- Cadet Interns DO NOT carry firearms.
