Quality Control Inspector - Swaz Farms
SUMMARY
Quality Control Inspector for Sterman Masser, Inc. assures the quality and grade of product that is processed through the Swaz Farms, Inc. facility and other Hatfield, MA potato farming operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As needed and with the amount of thoroughness deemed necessary: Perform sampling, testing, weighing, measuring and otherwise inspecting all outgoing packed products to assure it is of the quality desired.
- Learn customer specifications and assure that all finished product is meeting those specifications. Assure that all outgoing product is within grade.
- Understand proper procedures for storage of fresh potatoes to maximize safety, shelf life and minimize damage.
- Work closely with the personnel to examine, improve and implement product safety, quality and inventory control practices.
- Maintain open communication with supervisors and managers of both companies in order to achieve the above expectations.
- Maintain the Spud Shack and other Work stations from which to administrate the above expectations.
- Work closely with QC Manager and Production personnel to ensure that the product outgoing is SMI Quality.
- Maintain records and reports to send to Buyers and Production concerning the quality of the product.
- Adhere to USDA Standards, Masser, Swaz Farms and Customer Standards.
- Help maintain records of equipment.
- Work at several different inspection stations throughout plant and forward the findings to appropriate personnel.
- Accurately report findings for the day, flagging high priority loads to production managers.
- Basic reading, writing and math skills are useful.
- Other duties as assigned.
