Senior Energy Analyst Resource Adequacy and Electric Market Design - JC-438481

Energy Division/Electric Planning and Market Design/ Electric Market Design


The senior energy analyst will support the development and implementation of California's Resource Adequacy program as key team member in the Electric Market Design Section. (www.cpuc.ca.gov/ra) Under the close supervision of the Project and Program Supervisor, the senior analyst will lead the development of work products related to resource adequacy, electric procurement, and energy market design that are used to advise and assist high-level decision-makers such as Commissioners, Judges, and Energy Division management. The analyst will work on energy market and reliability projects, including resource adequacy program design, implementation, and compliance. In addition, the analyst will play a large role in the oversight of utility energy procurement activities, such as procurement of new clean energy resources, as well procurement of short term energy and capacity products to meet bundled electric customer load.


 

The analyst will make recommendations based on independent analysis of regulatory, policy and technical issues. The analyst will develop analysis for and make recommendations regarding the CPUC’s policy-setting rulemakings via a wide range of work products, review and provide feedback on proposed legislative bills, and/or work with a team that oversees implementation of programs that result from these CPUC and legislative processes. The analyst will perform other work as necessary, such as writing and presenting reports, coordinating with other California organizations and agencies (e.g., the California Energy Commission, the California Air Resources Board, California Independent System Operator), and responding to outside inquiries.
