English & Language Arts Teacher
Job Summary:
Lehigh Valley Academy is seeking an English & Language Arts Teacher for grades 7 & 8. The ideal candidate must have a willingness to develop into an IB Middle Years Programme teacher as well as a strong commitment to fostering literacy, critical thinking, and writing skills in middle school students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Implementation: Deliver engaging and comprehensive English & Language Arts instruction aligned with state standards and IB Middle Years Programme.
- Lesson Planning: Collaboratively develop and implement lesson plans that meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students, incorporating various instructional strategies and technologies.
- Student Assessment: Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback to students and parents to support student growth.
- Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and learning.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan interdisciplinary units and share best practices, contributing to a cohesive and supportive educational community.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and enhance instructional skills.
- Parental Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and involve them in the educational process.
- School Community: Contribute to the school community by participating in extracurricular activities, school events, and committee work.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English,
- Pennsylvania English Certification required.
- 3 years experience teaching English & Language Arts
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse and dynamic educational environment.
