High School Counselor
High School Counselor - Career & College Readiness Focus
Job Summary:
Lehigh Valley Academy is seeking a full-time certified School Counselor for grades 9-12 with a passion for Career and College Readiness. This School Counselor teaches 3 sections of career readiness classes to 10th grade students each semester and is a part of LVA's School Counseling Services Team, guiding students as they begin to navigate their career and college pathways.
Key Responsibilities:
- Career Classes: Develop (in collaboration with LVA’s school counseling team) and teach career readiness classes for 10th-grade students, providing them with essential skills and knowledge for future career planning.
- Career Fairs: Organize and coordinate annual career fairs, bringing together students, local businesses, and colleges to explore various career opportunities.
- Seminars: Conduct informative seminars on job searching strategies, resume writing, and application building to prepare students for the workforce and higher education applications.
- Individual Counseling: Provide one-on-one counseling to assist students with career exploration, college selection, and application processes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, other counselors, parents, and community partners to support student success and ensure a comprehensive approach to career and college readiness.
- Program Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative programs that promote student engagement and readiness for life after high school.
- Student Support: Offer support in areas such as academic advising, personal/social development, and crisis intervention as needed. LVA has set aside a classroom space for a career resources center.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in School Counseling.
- Valid PA state certification as a School Counselor.
- Experience working with high school students, particularly in the areas of career and college readiness.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to build relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members.
