This position is part of the wildlife team within Rusk and Taylor Counties carrying out all phases of responsibility for the wildlife program. Travel within the area is frequent, with occasional travel to other locations of the state for meetings and conferences.

You'll participate in program planning, budgeting and provide oversight for projects in the Ladysmith sub-area, which includes 12,000 acres of seven state owned wildlife areas.

Working with partner programs, you'll work to establish integrated wildlife goals and provide technical forest wildlife habitat management information and guidance to organizations such as the Rusk and Taylor County Forests and USFS Chequamegon-Nicollet National Forest. Our goal is consistency in management direction and strategy.

Administering federal, state, and privately funded habitat management programs means you'll be directing associated development and maintenance activities. You'll work with and lead a dedicated and passionate team of wildlife technicians, Limited Term Employment (LTE) staff and volunteers. During any given day, you and your team could be collecting and evaluating wildlife population and habitat survey data to coordinate a wildlife damage and nuisance control program or facilitating a public relations or education program to schools, organizations and private individuals. Regardless of task, you'll be creatively solving problems, providing technical expertise, enhancing wildlife populations, and developing public and approved private lands for public recreation and planned integrated management.

This recruitment will be used to fill any future Wildlife Biologist vacancies in the next 6 months, so please apply for this position, if you have interest working as a Wildlife Biologist for the Wisconsin DNR.
