Responsibilities of the STEM Teacher:

  • Demonstrate biology, chemistry and/or physics, math, computer science, technology/engineering concepts using models, other available technology methods, and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids.
  • Attend regular department, faculty, and other meetings.
  • Promote an inclusive working and community environment.
  • Evaluate each pupil’s progress in mathematical knowledge and skills.
  • Vertically align coursework to provide students with a meaningful scope.
  • Communicate with parents to interpret contemporary methods in teaching physics and with parents and school counselors to discuss the individual pupil’s progress.
  • Embraces authentic assessment, innovative pedagogies, discussion-based learning and project based learning.
  • Comfortable using online texts, iPads, Learning Management System, and computer systems.

Requirements of the STEM Teacher:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math, Computer Science, Tech or related
  • At least 1-3 years of teaching experience at the K-12 level
  • Have substantial expertise in the field and will be: a student-centered educator, skilled in fostering persistent problem solving, knowledgeable about adolescents’ intellectual, social, and emotional development
  • Eager to work collaboratively with colleagues on curriculum design, pedagogy, and assessments
  • Interest to contribute to school community outside of the classroom as an athletic coach, student advisor, student club leader, or otherwise preferred
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
