CMC Electrical and Instrumentation Surveyor

DNV – Maritime, Region Americas is seeking an CMC Electrical and Instrumentation Surveyor - Entry Level to join our team. As a Certification of Materials and Components (CMC) Surveyor, you will be member of a highly qualified team of individuals fulfilling surveying, auditing, certification activities for the offshore Oil and Gas, Drilling, and Maritime industries (including Cruise Industry). 

This role will be based out of our Katy office.

What You’ll Do 

  • Certification of materials, components, and systems for the shipping and offshore sectors, as well as with independent 3rd party verification services of the same.
  • Certification of equipment and systems to Class Society rules and standards as well as Verification of equipment and systems to other recognized industry specifications.
  • Surveys and certification mainly of electrical components and control/monitoring equipment at different manufacturing locations within the US/Canada.
  • Ensure that the work or duties performed are in accordance with the Rules, Regulations, Instructions, Guidelines and quality requirements of the organization and the instructions of the line management.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of Clients' business, processes, designs, developments, and documentation at all times.
  • The person should have a solid background in Electrical and Instrumentation engineering, with the ability to function effectively in high pressure environments while multi-tasking, be self-motivated and resourceful.

What is Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering within Electrical, Electronics and/or Instrument major
  • Previous work experience in Maritime or Offshore environment is a plus.
  • Previous work experience with systems or equipment design or manufacturing is a plus.
  • 0 - 3 years of relevant experience in upstream, midstream, or downstream within the offshore Oil and Gas, Drilling, or Maritime industries.
  • Language: English Speaking / Writing proficiency. Must be an exemplary communicator.
  • Ability to travel to customer locations via own vehicle or commercial airline. Some International travel required.
  • Be able to drive at minimum 4 hours in duration at times.

What is Preferred

  • Master's Degree within Electrical, Electronics and/or Instrument major

Physical Ability Requirements 

  • Lifting 10% of the time, minimum carrying requirement of 33 lbs./15 kg
  • Standing 50% of the time for a varying number of hours
  • Climbing 50% of the time ladders and steps of varying height and angles.
  • Other: Ability to move inside confined spaces and crawl through manholes with diameter of 600mm or more.
  • Extreme weather (temperature and humidity) and environmental conditions may occur during standard surveyor work activities.
