Middle School Academic Aide

Notre Dame Mission Volunteers, AmeriCorps (NDMVA) is seeking an Academic Aide to serve as a Full-time (40 hrs per week) AmeriCorps Member at EA Hall Middle School in Watsonville. The service member's role is to increase academic engagement among 6-8 grade students. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Schedule

M-F 10am -6:30pm ~40 hours per week with some weekends.

Summary of duties 

  • Encourage school engagement among 6-8 students by supporting students
    with small group and individual academic support 
  •  Provide support to students who are struggling academically
  • Along with staff, ensure that planned activities, hygiene and safety standards
    have been followed
  • Supervision of students in small and large groups
  • Support after school homework and enrichment activities
  •  Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and
    coaching
  • Ensure all District policies and state regulations are met
  •  Ensure a healthy learning environment - including maintaining appropriate
    hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of students
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality
    improvement
  • Collaborate with Site Supervisor to address challenges and advance toward
    goals
  • Maintain an open channel of communication with After School Program staff
    and select administrative staff

Position prerequisites

  • AmeriCorps members must be over 18, with high school diploma/GED, and a US Citizen or legal permanent resident
  • All AmeriCorps members complete a FBI and Truescreen background checks during pre-enrollment

 

Stipend : $2,636.36 per month
