VA 124652 Graphic Designer and Cartographers. Seasoned designer that transforms ambiguous information into visually appealing graphics with a variety of practical applications to support DIA’s intelligence and corporate production efforts. This position uses design methods and techniques to organize, interpret, and visualize raw data into easy-to-understand visual stories using charts, diagrams, maps, infographics, and illustrations. On daily basis, you will collaborate with team of analysts, designers, developers, and non-technical partners to translate relevant data into impactful visualizations to inform key stakeholders and policymakers. You will work on a wide-range of routine-to-complex projects and engage with customer to define project requirements and provide advice on best process and procedures for optimal visual presentation.
PORTFOLIO IS REQUIRED. Portfolio showcasing experience in cartography, infographics and digital or print design. Attachments are limited to 10MB or include website address within your work experience.
Highly Desired: 3-5+years of professional graphic design/cartography experience, or practical knowledge of design principles, practices and methods OR Bachelor’s degree or professional certificate in graphic design, multimedia, geospatial information systems, cartography or data visualization.
- Demonstrate knowledge of design production tools and methodology, and a strong technical aptitude to quickly learn new software and hardware.
- Professional expertise in providing data driven solutions using complex data or geospatial data using typography, color theory, grid and symbology into a tailored cohesive product.
- Experience in working with clients on concept development, visualizations, and visual storytelling in accordance with graphic standards and set procedures.
- Develop and maintain strong interpersonal skills; be a team player, positive and innovative thinker.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from concept to completion; exhibit flexibility and the knowledge to create multiple creative concepts under tight deadlines.
- Highly proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (version CC or above) Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Microsoft Office.
- Additional knowledge such as: MaPublisher, Maya, UX/UI, system applications, database designs, MS SharePoint, cascading style sheets and structured authoring software (SGML, HTML, and XML languages).
