Position Overview

The Construction Assistant plays a pivotal role in the successful execution of industrial construction projects within mega sites. Working in collaboration with project managers and cross-functional teams, this role involves managing and coordinating projects through various stages, from proposal and construction to completion and handover. The Construction Assistant ensures that projects are meticulously planned, executed, and delivered within budget and on time, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

 

Responsibilities

 

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Manage and coordinate projects in mega sites during multiple stages, including proposal, construction, completion, and handover.
  • Work with functional leaders and project teams to ensure that projects are planned, designed, and built to meet target objectives, budget, and timelines.

Support and Setup:

  • Assist in setting up new projects, including initial planning and coordination.
  • Provide support to project sites for materials, manpower, and equipment to ensure smooth project execution.

Vendor Procurement:

  • Partner with the Procurement Team in preparing accurate and efficient vendor procurements.
  • Source new subcontractors for projects to ensure a diverse and capable pool of partners.
  • Work with contractors, vendors, suppliers, and other stakeholders as requested to ensure that the necessary materials and services are acquired.

Scheduling and Budget Management:

  • Monitor and control project schedules and budgets under the guidance of the Construction Director.
  • Manage contracts and maintain consistency in project execution to meet group standards and documents.

Communication:

  • Maintain positive communications with all stakeholders and internal/external departments.
  • Resolve issues, ensure project alignment, and foster cooperation among team members and stakeholders.

Compliance:

  • Review and maintain compliance with government regulations and ordinances to ensure that projects meet all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist the construction group with obtaining necessary licenses and permits for projects.

Other Duties:

  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the successful execution of construction projects.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with construction related documentation, submittals, drawings, reports, etc.
  • Experience with subcontractor procurement and contract administration.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction industry regulations.
  • Microsoft office experience (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Exceptional leadership, time management, project management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and interactions with clients.

 

Education and Experience

  • Education – Associate’s degree or higher in Construction Management, Engineering or related area.
  • 1 -2 years of experience in engineering or construction.
